Spay & Neuter Clinics
Thank you for your interest in our low-cost spay/neuter programs. Caldwell Humane Society partners with the Humane Alliance in Asheville to offer spay and neuter services at reduced costs. We appreciate the continued support of our local veterinarians: Caldwell Animal Hospital, Lenoir Veterinary Hospital and Hudson Animal Hospital. Please see your veterinarian regularly for the continued good health of your pet.
What is Humane Alliance?
Humane Alliance is a nonprofit spay and neuter clinic located in Asheville, NC that provides spay and neuter surgeries to cats and dogs at reduced costs. Anyone, regardless of income, may use this service. Animals are picked up in Caldwell County, transported to Asheville for surgery, and returned the next day.
What is SPOT?
SPOT (Stop Pet Overpopulation Today) is a program that helps families with limited income pay for spay/neuter surgery. Financial aid is for Caldwell County residents only. You may apply for help only for your own pets. To apply for financial assistance, you must attach copies of documents that verify your total monthly household income.
What is ICARE?
ICARE refers to the State of North Carolina's Spay/Neuter Program. Special animal-lover license tags raise money for spay/neuter surgeries. Funds are allocated by the county to pay surgery fees for qualifying clients and reimbursement from the State is requested by the Caldwell County Health Department. The reimbursed funds are "recycled" so that more spays/neuters can be offered to those who qualify.
How Can I Help?
Caldwell Humane Society is an all-volunteer group, and we are always in need of additional volunteers. We need people to assist with preparations for the clinics, operations at the clinic pick-up and drop-off sites, and with fundraisers. Please call 499-0289 and leave a message for more information. A volunteer will return your call.
